The “happening” still has a dream-like quality about it. From the moment we walked into the Gallery, with George, as the first guests started to arrive, to the closing, two or three hours later - - -

Everyone seemed to love the paintings, and, before I could take it all in, ALL the paintings were sold! As we would soon find out, the paintings had been bought by some of the most renowned art patrons and collectors in America.
Invited to ‘this’ party and ‘that’ event, it seemed that no luncheon, evening, or gathering would be complete without us!
“All very well”, I thought, “What will I do for clothes!” Yet, no one seemed to care that I had only two “good dresses” and no jewelry!! So, I stopped worrying - - -
Palm Beach seemed so
‘informal’ and ‘unpretentious’ . . . for all the great wealth and important people who owned magnificent houses there . . . I loved the ‘easy’ life and charm - - - Nicola was captivated!

George invited us to stay on as his guests, at Beaumer, whilst Nicola
painted to his heart’s content, using the pool-house as his studio - -
-
He did not need to be asked twice!
The pool-house became the meeting place for
‘everybody’ (or so it seemed!) . . .
Franz and Piero were permanent
fixtures - - as were the beautiful young who wanted to be ‘painted’.
Nicola invented a song, which he sang as he painted - - - “Oh, I do love to paint by the swimming pool” - - - soon, everyone was singing it ! “Sylvie” Retablo in Silkscreen © SIMBARI |
There was a lot of fun - - - and laughter - - - time flew by - - - -
Days walking on the dunes and
beaches, or, meeting with new-found friends, in the evening . . . and, suddenly, it was time to return to Rome - - - Nicola was discussing new Shows for the coming year and the Future was exciting . . .
