In all the years I have known Nicola he has been “The Man”, who happens to be “The Artist” - - -
It is only NOW, since starting on my web-site ‘journey’, that I recognise the enormous difference between “Man” and “Artist” - - -
The Man, NICOLA, charming, sociable, joyous, mercurial, explosive, in love with beauty, hot tempered . . . and definitely Southern Italian in his approach to Life - - -
Is this
The Artist ? His eyes tell us . . .! |
Is this
The Man ? Or do they ? |
The Artist, SIMBARI, totally dedicated to his Muse . . . ART . . . to the exclusion of all else. Completely focussed on HIS VISION of HIS ART.
I am amazed that it has taken me so long to understand, completely, the very subtle, but vastly important difference. Especially as I was an ‘artist’ of the Voice and the Theatre, before I joined my ‘Destiny’ with SIMBARI’s.
I
have always ‘known’ that NICOLA was hugely gifted, and ‘imagined’ that others could see it as well - - - |
The hands of ‘The Master’ |
The gradual Recognition of SIMBARI’s huge talent was logical, for me . . . he is the Genius, who turns an ordinary every-day scene into a Masterpiece, using Colour and Light as his ‘technique’.
Art is not only for the Elite, the Professors of the Arts, it
is for US
- - -
Art brightens the day, as we look at a work . . . to Dream of ‘being
there’ - -
to remind US beauty is where we
find it - - -
to
dream,
to feel, to step away from our ‘reality’ - - - be in another place, another time ! It is pure Magic - - - SIMBARI is The Magician Of Colour and Light! “Santorini” Oil on Canvas © SIMBARI |
I have chosen to write of Nicola as SIMBARI, on these pages, to separate ‘them’ from each other . . . and yet, he is both - - -!
The
Man
- who would draw all over the paper tablecloth, in a
Trattoria.
. . .
The Artist
- who would build a horse from grissini and tooth-picks, in
a restaurant . . . yet, understanding the ‘dividing line’ between the
Man
that I love, and
the Artist
, of whom I am in awe, has taken me a
lifetime - - -
I have only some of the many, many articles in the Press, written about SIMBARI over the years, since I have been with him . . . sadly, in my travels, many have been lost . . .
It is still exciting to read the reactions of noted journalists and critics, after seeing a SIMBARI exhibition, and more especially, on meeting him . . . the Man . Stuart Preston of the New York Times, Neil Morgan of Los Angeles and La Jolla, Frank Getlein, Sterling McIlhany, the playwright and actor Jerome Kilty . . . are only some of the names - - -
The Studio . . . SIMBARI the Artist's Dream . . . when we were first married . . . a space where he could be FREE to express his deepest ‘love’ . . . Painting . . .! The Studio . . . . . . . . . |
The House . . . . . . to have his own house and no neighbours !! - - - well, almost! This came true after two Shows in America . . . in New York and in Palm Beach (Florida). . . An almost unbelievable Adventure - - - And the Next Dream . . . |
